Jesus is hauled into court!
The final showdown for Christianity will be taking place, not in Megiddo (as in Armageddon), but in Rome. When, you ask? Right now.
An Italian court is presiding over the case whether Jesus actually existed. Ironically, the prosecutor and defendant are two men in their 70s, who attended the same seminary school in their teens. Enrico Righi, the defense attorney, went on to become a priest while the prosecuting attorney, Luigi Cascioli, became a vocal atheist.
The case actually is based on an Italian law regarding fraud. The prosecutor claims the Catholic Church is conning the world by basing their religion on a man who never existed.
"The Church constructed Christ upon the personality of John of Gamala," Cascioli claimed, referring to the 1st century Jew who fought against the Roman army.
Even Cascioli admits that the odds are against him, especially in Roman Catholic Italy.
"It would take a miracle to win," he joked.
